I was told recently that I was obsessed with exclamation marks and thus not wanting to disappoint, I have duly added one for mega-emphasis on the greatness of the above announcement.
The biggest mistake you could possibly make is to think that such a subject is not so important for you, perhaps because you’re relatively young, or you’re a student, or you’re in debt or you think you might not have too much money to believe that Zakāh is something you should be concerned about.
Folks, that is a risk you cannot take. Just because a field of knowledge or a certain obligation isn’t the all-singing, all-dancing exciting iman-rush that a Khutbah on “The Day of Judgement” can be, shouldn’t mean that we disregard some of the pillars of our religion. And then very misunderstood pillars at that.
See, as someone on the front line who gets inundated with questions on this subject, I know exactly how many people don’t have a dally about how to calculate their Zakāh properly i.e. the majority.
And after the amount of work and detail that has gone into this guide, and considering just how huge an obligation it is upon every Muslim to ensure they pay their Zakāh properly, I am positive that thousands of Muslims will find this guide a great help in completing such a fardh.
So download your guide HERE and then please spread the link for this post to all your contacts so that we can all share in the reward of promoting the correct teachings of Islam and encouraging the Muslims to worship their Lord upon knowledge, truth and certainty.
Also note that there are full contact details for both ourselves and Al-Qalam which will aim to help all readers in their queries surrounding this sometimes complicated subject. Lets hope we can help in making the paying of this year’s Zakāh the easiest you will ever do in sha Allah.
Masha’Allah I really enjoyed reading this- it is simply EXCELLENT –Alhamdulillai rabbil a’alameen!!!
Just some small queries and forgive me for being specific but perhaps in this part one means “giving” not “given”
“Those who wish to pay Zaka¯h need to be careful in only given Zaka¯h monies to those people who are entitled to Zaka¯h.”
Also in the liabilities section/table where muajjal is mentioned I am a bit confused about this:- “12 months worth of future debts can be included”-
Is the “future” 12 months in addition to any previous installments one has already made or it is best to have only a maximum of 12 in any given “zakah year” as some contemporary scholars have ruled? Perhaps I have misunderstood this bit.
Anyhow- the e-book is great masha’Allah.May it be a sadaqah jaariyah for you all. Barak’Allahu feekum.
Thank you for your kind words and for the correction you’ve spotted. We hope to update that typo as soon as we can God willing.
As for your query then our scholar panel has clarified this by explaining that this would not include previous instalments because that is repaid debt and doesn’t count as a liability. Therefore it is just the 12 months ahead. And God knows best.
i have tried 3 times to download your previous book on halal money, and now this book. i enter my email [tried 2 different email addresses] and get no link. i did receive the email you just sent telling me to come here and download it, but i just have to enter my email again. this is an unbelievably frustrating loop. why not just put the direct link to download?? i entered my email once more but now i officially give up.
Our apologies for the difficulties you are experiencing. We have found that on the odd occasion, the mail service provider can take some time to get back to the subscriber which is really rather unfortunate. We will contact them to see if there is a larger problem at bay.
Also please check your junk mail because it is possible the link might have navigated itself there instead.
If this is not resolved by the weekend, please email us at info@1stethical.com and we shall mail you the book directly God willing.
I too don’t understand why the unnecessary steps, why not include the link at the beginning without having to fill out the form again since you have the email in the first place when you sent us the ad about the ebook?
Thank you.
i have read through the book and though it is helpful, some of it is confusing. i think in an updated version you should have a paragraph for students and them taking out student loans to help with University fees and if it counts towards Assets or Liabilitities.
Any chance you can reply to me if you know which section it counts towards? Assets or Liabilties?
You may find it useful to visit the Al Qalam fatwa pages at http://www.alqalam.org.uk where this issue is covered.
I am not sure what you’re specifically asking, please email info@1stethical.com with a more detailed query and we will do our best to help.
Without going into the actual permissibility of student loans, the basic principles are:
If you are asking whether the actual money from the loan counts as an asset for zakah purposes, then this is incorrect.
The treatment of long-term loans, which is what student loans are, generally allows only the next 12 months of installments due to be taken off as a liability when calculating zakah.
We follow a whole array of news and comment that is re-posted on this blog, with the intention of raising awareness on important issues within the media related to our campaigns and our vision, such that readers are empowered to benefit society.
